Hi, I’m Jud.
I’m a pediatrician, endurance athlete, startup exec, coach, husband, and dad living in the Pacific Northwest.
But here’s the part I used to hide: I live with bipolar disorder.
This reality has shaped my life more than any race or job title. And it’s the reason I built The Balance Athlete — to show athletes and their supporters that mental health isn’t just something to “manage,” it’s something you can harness for strength and performance.
At The Balanced Athlete, my mission is simple:
Break the stigma around mental health in sports.
Give athletes tools to turn struggle into strength.
Build a community where balance isn’t about perfection, but persistence, which is my personal #1 core value.
